Dit proefschrift onderzoek het wankele evenwicht tussen stress en herstel in sport. Voor optimale prestaties zijn sporters continu bezig met het verleggen van grenzen. Dit kan leiden tot een lokale of algemene overbelasting, zich uitend in blessures, ziekte en overtraindheid. Het systematische monitoren van stress en herstel kan mogelijk helpen om prestaties te verbeteren en overbelasting te voorkomen.
